Complete success: 23,387 visitors in the first year

EXPERIENCE TIROL – the immersive show in the center of Innsbruck, celebrated its first birthday on September 1.
The number of visitors in year one exceeded expectations and is set to double in the next season.
New products, including a podcast and merchandise, as well as a theme song will ensure even more attention.

“Honestly. We never expected this number,” summarize the two inventors of EXPERIENCE TIROL, Peter Margreiter and Felix Kozubek, after the first year.
The so-called “Storybased Infotainment Show” focuses on the fascination of Tyrol and creates a unique experience for the whole family using the latest technologies and emotional storytelling.

Enthusiastic guests

“This is the best advertisement for Tirol.” “We’ve never seen anything like it. Not even in the USA or Asia have we seen anything like it.” “It hardly ever happens that our children don’t look at their cell phones for an hour. That was the case with you.” “I was in tears in the last room. I was reminded of what a beautiful place we live in.”

“Hearing such comments is simply a gift,” say the founders, delighted with the positive feedback from guests.
The target group is broad and ranges from children of primary school age to young couples and the grandparent generation.
Locals and tourists alike take up the offer.

Figures and data

  • 23,387 visitors in year 1
  • 50:50 ratio between locals and tourists
  • Austria, Germany, Holland, France, USA and Italy most frequent visitors
  • Youngest paying visitor: 6 years (free admission under this age)
  • Oldest paying visitor: 95 years old
  • 82 school classes in year 1 (Gerlos and Außerfern longest journey within Tyrol, Heidelberg longest journey of a school class in general)
  • 12 employees, 9 of them at the Kaufhaus Tyrol location
  • 4.9* rating on Google
  • 5* rating on Tripadvisor and GetYourGuide
  • Over 3 million euros were invested in Tyrol as a business location with the show

The medium-term target is 50,000 visitors per year.
This could fall in the second year.
“It’s a goal, but not a must,” the creators nevertheless set themselves high standards.
“We are completely privately financed, without a single public euro. For this reason, profitability and growth are very important to us. We are on the right track. The direction is right.”
The realization of the lighthouse project was made possible by an investment from the Innsbruck-based company STASTO.

Podcast, merchandising and theme song

In addition to the show, which can be visited from Monday to Sunday in Kaufhaus Tyrol, EXPERIENCE TIROL has other products to offer.
A month ago, “EXPERIENCE TIROL – The Podcast” was launched.
Exciting stories from and about Tyrol are presented there every two weeks in an entertaining way, true to the company’s own infotainment approach, which combines knowledge and entertainment.

“We want to bring people closer to the fascination of Tyrol. And in as many different ways as possible. The podcast is the ideal complement to the show. We are convinced that knowledge can be conveyed better if it is embedded in a good story,” say the founders.

Own merchandising line

In addition to the podcast, a separate merchandising line will be launched in fall 2024, which will be available at the Tyrol department store and in the online store.

EXPERIENCE TIROL – The new way to experience Tyrol.
Emotional, immersive and unique – a world first opens in Innsbruck.

On over 500 square meters, the EXPERIENCE TIROL digital experience offers a spectacular journey to the highest peaks, into the past and future, into the heart and soul of Tyrol.
One show, 1,000 memories.
Knowledge transfer in the newest and most exciting way.

The name says it all: EXPERIENCE TIROL is a so-called “story-based infotainment show” that has never been seen before in this form anywhere in the world.
Immersive, educational, emotional and equipped with the latest technology, visitors are offered an incomparable world of experience.
The focus is on the real, authentic Tyrol.
Life in the mountains with all its beautiful and challenging aspects.
Within an hour, visitors experience a journey through the rich history, traditions, art and natural and sporting landscape of the region.
The emotionally charged story leaves visitors with lasting memories. We were looking for a completely new kind of experience and a way to convey knowledge in an exciting way.
The result is EXPERIENCE TIROL.
Entertainment meets knowledge, storytelling and the latest technologies.
– Peter Margreiter, Managing Partner.

Storybased infotainment show: a world first.

Over the past one and a half years, more than 200 people have worked on creating a 512 square meter world of experience.
In five rooms, visitors can embark on an exciting and emotional journey of knowledge through Tyrol.
Visitors are accompanied by the father and daughter of the Gruber family – played by Gregor Bloéb and Lisa Neuner – whose captivating and emotional stories span the arc through the rooms and different themed worlds.
The latest technologies captivate visitors and become a sensual, lasting experience.
Large-scale projections, virtual reality installations and holograms create impressive moments.
Be it the breathtaking view from the highest peaks of the country down into the valley, a virtual flight through the middle of the Battle of Bergisel in 1809, a detailed picture of Innsbruck at the time of Emperor Maximilian around 1500 AD.
or the jump from the Bergisel ski jump.
You can lose yourself in these and many other different scenes and learn a lot about Tyrol in the process – the essence of infotainment. For me, EXPERIENCE TIROL is a newly conceived complete work.
Drama, music, storytelling and the latest technologies meet beautifully designed architecture to create a completely new setting.
If people leave the Experience smarter and happier than when they entered, then we have done everything right
.
– Felix Kozubek, Managing Partner.

A lasting experience for young and old.

The show is intended to appeal to both locals and visitors alike, young and old.
Historians, art professors and educationalists have advised on the development of the content.
EXPERIENCE TIROL enables school classes to experience a completely new form of knowledge transfer on site.
Modern technology makes it possible to convey emotions and knowledge in an equally simple and impressive way.
This creates many lasting memories and discussions that can be continued in the classroom.
